What to pack for a weekend in the Balkan
My packing list, tested over twenty weekends: from the shoes to a small torch.
The Balkan is moody: 8 degrees in the morning, 22 at noon. So I travel in layers: a T-shirt, a fleece and a thin waterproof jacket.
- Comfortable shoes with grip — the cobbles in Zheravna are slippery.
- A small torch — village streets are not lit.
- Slippers — we take our shoes off in guest houses.
- Cash — not every place has a card terminal.
And room in your bag for a jar of honey or jam — we always come back with something.
